SYNOPSIS
After the death of his employer, the great composer Ludwig van Beethoven (Gary Oldman), Anton Felix Schindler (Jeroen Krabbé) finds a letter to an ‘immortal beloved’, with neither name nor address. Schindler wants to unveil the identity of the intended recipient, as the document serves as a last will and testament. The deaf composer – who could be gruff, arrogant and simply impossible – had almost countless love affairs. The story, composed of a series of flashbacks, provides a framework in which the life of the composer is unrolls before the eyes of the viewers.
